about

Not a knock on Ohio at all, this is a road-trip song about leaving home to find a new life and love somewhere else. Southern Rock sing-along in the vein of Keith Urban meets Brad Paisley with Eagles harmonies. You may even hear a Doobie Brothers change in the dynamic turnaround. Lots of excellent guitar picking and a nice, dirty slide makes its presence known.

lyrics

Drivin' down an open highway, I think about the things I've done.
Searchin' for a new life somewhere, settin' my sights on the sun.
I'm leavin' my place in Cleveland, bound for 'round Mexico.
And I'll be right on down to settle in a quiet border town.
Gonna find myself a Senorita...and leave Ohio behind!
I'll leave O-hi-hi-hi-hi-o behind. I'll leave O-hi-hi-hi-hi-o behind.

Road signs and telephone lines. Don't even have a place to stay.
Reminds me of a blue-eyed girl I passed along the way.
No one's ever gonna find my tracks, I'm gonna cover them with time.
And I'll be there tomorrow -nothing in the world can change my mind.
Gonna find myself a Senorita...and leave Ohio behind!
I'll leave O-hi-hi-hi-hi-o behind. I'll leave O-hi-hi-hi-hi-o behind.

Road signs. Telephone lines. Don't even have a place to stay.
Reminds me of a blue-eyed girl I passed along the way.
I'm leavin' my place in Cleveland, bound for 'round Mexico.
And I'll be there tomorrow – nothing in the world can change my mind.
Gonna find myself a Senorita...............and leave Ohio behind!
I'll leave O-hi-hi-hi-hi-o behind.
I'll leave O-hi-hi-hi-hi-o behind.
I'll leave O-hi-hi-hi-hi-o behind.
I'll leave O-hi-o behind!
